As I was seeing all the hype coming up around Bridgerton. And I was just noticing some really interesting things that really just just stood out to me and really made me. And be like, Ooh, like these are such great lessons for marketing. This is just great lessons for business. And I want to share them. Welcome to the raising your business podcast. Welcome back to the podcast. This is a special bonus episode, and I'm really excited about this because I've been actually thinking about creating this for a couple. At least six to eight weeks. As I was seeing all the hype coming up around Bridgerton And I was just noticing some really interesting things that really just just stood out to me and really made me. And be like, Ooh, like these are such great lessons for marketing. This is just great lessons for business. And I want to share them. And as we are getting ready for the second part. Of Richard tins, season three to come out. I wanted to take some time to look at Richard tin. And get some business and marketing lessons from it, right? Learning about creating demand, learning about marketing, learning about collaboration. There's so many lessons. I I feel we can learn from this show. And my goal is for you to walk away with not just these insights. But also a little insight in how to notice these kinds of things around you and connect them to your business. Because I honestly I have a list. I actually have a list of lessons, entrepreneurial lessons you can learn from Harry Potter. Entrepreneurial lessons you can learn from Hamilton, right? And if you're able to notice things that, that are around you, whether I'm any sort of. Any sort of trending topic or trending I guess entertainment is a good word. And ha things that people already thinking about things people are already talking about and posting about. And you can hijack them. I think my friend Larissa called it news jacking, so it's like that idea. It's like entertainment jacking. If you can. Hijack these things, so to speak and use them for your business. Like when the Barbie movie came out, everyone. One was doing like this. This, business. This Barbie. RB is this kind of business. The owner, this Barbie. Is that kind of persona, right? Everyone was. Like jumping. Jumping on that Barbie train. Train because everyone was talking. Talking about, or everyone was thinking. About it. I. I wanted to talk. Talk about how we could do that. With Richardson. It quicks with his Dick. Season three of Britain. 45.1 million views. And it's opening weekend on Netflix, which was a record breaking success for this show. I don't think, I think no other show has done that in the history of Netflix or very few. And I think that is enough for us to able to be like what did they do right here? Okay. Now I will just say quick caveat. I read the British in books when I was in high school. I'm definitely more of a purist. I'm not a fan of all the side plots happening in this season because I want it to be about the main characters calling in Penelope. And and I'm going to be judgy about it because readers are judging about things. Okay. So deal with it, right? The only movies that I've ever seen experience that I think can possibly compare to the books that they are created after are the Lord of the rings, movies, everything else, you got to read the book, but. That being said, their marketing has been on point and I wanted to share a few things that I've learned, and I would love for you to take and apply to your own business as well. So the first thing I wanna talk about is collaboration teaming up with big names. And. The lesson I want you to learn from this is leveraging partnerships. So what Richard Jenn did really cleverly or what Netflix did. I think they were both clever. Whoever did this. Whoever purchased this or whoever whoever. Organize this. Partnering with Netflix. I was a really good move. Why? Because Netflix is a streaming giant, right? It means instant visibility, instant credibility. Netflix has an existing audience of viewers. And that is honestly like for me, I love getting in front of other people's audiences. And because especially if your audience is small at the beginning, You, if you can collaborate with the right people and partner up with the right people you can give them and their audience value, right? Like perpetrators giving us entertainment value. A lot of entertainment and and also, you are reaping the rewards of their existing audience. You they have already grown an audience. They already have people who are there ready to buy, ready to watch, ready to whatever. What can you do? What can you do to learn from this is, I would say if you are looking to grow your audience to start with other people's audiences, they are the best way to start growing your audience. It's free. It takes a little time. But as long as there's an equal energy exchange, you are golden. All right. So if you are feeling like, oh, I want to start growing my email list. Start looking for collaboration opportunities, whether it's freebie swaps. Whether it's whether it's summits or bundles or things like that. Like I grew my email list to a thought my first thousand people. W zero, zero ads, only collaborations. Okay. And so I just found that this is, this has been my biggest success as far as audience growth went. And if this is something that interests you, I have an entire section on audience growth, via collaborations and via other people's audiences inside of my CMA program. I see I'm on academy. So if you want to know more about CMA, then the link is in the description. Okay. I highly recommend looking for existing audiences that already have your people in them. And figuring out how to get in front of them, whatever you can do to get in front of them. Whether it's creating a special training or giving a gift. Or whatever it is. It will be worth it. Okay. The second thing that I've seen is getting really social on social media. I think we forget sometimes as we grow our business, that social media was created to be social. Okay. It is not just to just drop value. And run. So the big lesson I learned from this is to engage in social media. The British and team was super and it still is super active on social media. They're sharing behind the scenes content. They're sharing bloopers, they're sharing, sneak peaks of the second part of season three. They're engaging with their fans. They're resharing stuff. So use social media. To interact back and forth with your audience and keep them hooked and get engaging. I had a client who was like, I don't want to do, I've just been posting on Instagram and I'm getting like one or two likes. And one of them is you. And I said, the thing, the truth is that just creating content. Alone is not going to do a lot. You really do need to give. Something like Instagram or even Facebook or any other social platform. Kickstart by. Intentionally engaging with your target audience. So what can you do? What can you learn from this? Go out there, engage with your target audience. Okay. Follow people that are your target audience comment on their stuff. Like genuinely comment on their stuff, engage with their stories. Don't forget that you are probably a personal brand. Show the personality behind your business and stay in touch with your. Ideal client. Okay. Keep social media social. And the more social you keep it, the more likely it is that it will grow and you will get, you will get that. That, that connection with your people. And bring in more clients and customers. The third thing. That they did so well, okay. Was teasing. Okay. Building anticipation. When you launch something. Okay. And sometimes I'll forget to do this too, because sometimes I'll just have a great idea and I'll be like, I just wanna get this out there. I wanna launch this thing. Fine. I get it. But if you are planning ahead and I suggest you plan at least a quarter ahead, okay. At least a quarter, at least 12 weeks ahead of whatever it is you're doing. So many business owners miss out. On the teasing phase. Of their launches. Okay. The prelaunch phase. They're not building hype. They're not giving sneak peaks. They're not. Creating, mystery. They're not creating excitement. They're not building up. They're not building up. Momentum for their existing for their existing people to start being like, Ooh, what's the, what's coming out. What's that branding what's happening? Tell me more, so Bridgeton. It was so good at this. And they were sharing sneak, peeks for months and months. And months before. Yeah, they they were actually, they were actually launched the season. And by the time. The first part of the season came out. People were completely like, they were just, ah, They were like, we need this. They were like, watch you. They're like, forget it. Forget getting anything done on May 16th. Cause I'm not doing anything he's ever watching Richardson. There was so much anticipation. There was so much excitement. There was so much hype around this season that people were like, that is why they got so many views within the first week. Because they had built up so much hype and so much mystery and so much anticipation that people were jumping on it. The second it landed on Netflix, or I remember when it landed. Because it was 10:00 AM my time. Okay. Because midnight Pacific is 10:00 AM my time. And I was out with my mom and my sisters, and I just kept looking at my phone like, oh my God. I know now I know. We're just it's there, it exists. It's on there. And I have stuff to do today and I'm going to push it off till tonight. I'm not going to watch it now. But it was really hard to do. I'm not going to lie. Okay. So what can you do? What can you learn from this is teasing your products, teasing your upcoming offers with previews enhanced to build excitement. There are so many ways you can do this. You can show behind the scenes. If you creating it, you can show branding. You can actually say, I'm creating something about this, what comes to mind you think about this word and that word is part of the name of your offer. Showing your colors, showing. The branding and be like, which one do you like better? This one or this one? Showing like real previews or even showing if you're giving tools or spreadsheets or workbooks or things like that, like showing behind the scenes of what's coming, because once you actually launched the thing, people are going to be so freaking excited. They're gonna be like, oh my God, tell me more. I need to know. I need to know what's going on. I need to know what's happening. Let me, let me just into this thing so I can get all these tools these these gifts, these bonuses. I'm so excited about this. Okay. So teased your products, tease your offers with previews and hints, Tibble that excitement before big launches. All right, the next thing. Is. Basically newsjacking or interest jacking maybe Is. a better word. Capitalizing on things that people are already interested in. Okay. So how did Richard can do this? Which I think was, oh my God. It was so well done. The music. Okay. They innovated. They innovated. And they took pop songs that already existed. The people already loved. And they turn them into these classical covers and they use them throughout the shows. And not only is their soundtracks so popular. I love, I like to listen. The soundtrack. I listened to it all the time when I'm working, because there's such a great background soundtrack, but using these classical covers of these pop songs made Britain so unique and memorable, it was unlike any other period drama that had been created before. So blending things that people are already into and capitalizing on that. To incorporate into your offer and marketing, like I discussed earlier is a really great way to create more buy-in to your offers. Now, how can you do this? Like this podcast episode is exactly what this is. I'm hacking the current interest in Richard Shannon. This is so meta. Okay. But this is literally what I'm doing. I'm saying right now people are talking about Brotherton. This is what people are looking for. This or people are really interested in, right? This is such a great opportunity to get in front of so many of my ideal clients who are already like following and posting Bridgeton memes and, and. Britain reels and, oh my God, I cannot wait until July until June 13th. Then write those, all those people. So many of those people are in my target audience. Okay. Millennial moms are totally there. They're there. Okay. I'm hacking the current interest in Bridgeton to get more attention for my brand. Okay. So. think about, again, like we mentioned earlier, the whole Barbie launch, um, thinking about things that using, I remember there was the whole Barbin Heimer phenomenon and just taking things that people are already interested in. People are already doing. And just using that to create, interest in your brand, to get more reach, to get in front of new people. This is a really great strategy and they have done it incredibly. The next thing. Okay. Is keeping the momentum going. Okay. Here's the thing that also a lot of times people forget to do. His maintain interest over time. So if you have a launch based off of. Programmer product or whatever. After the success of the first Britain season, they were like, The Richmond team was like, wow, we are really onto something. People absolutely love this. So their marketing team kept the hype alive in between seasons for the next season, with these very targeted campaigns. These very again, the sneak peaks, the updates, oh here's the cast behind the scenes. So keep your audience engaged with regular updates and new content to sustain their interest in your offers. Even if your offers are not necessarily. Really open. At that moment. So if you have an evergreen. Evergreen offer even better. You can keep getting people. Into the door, if you can sell it all year round. Amazing. But even if you don't, you can continue doing the behind the scenes of your offer until you're ready to fill it again. Because that is going to create hype, build up interest. Create brand, offer. An awareness, right? People, you want people to be aware and be exposed to your offer multiple times so that they can build up interest in that offer. Okay. So what can you do to learn from Britain is keeps showing the behind the scenes of what you're doing and the actual process, even if you're not launching at that moment. Not only are you going to attract clients who love the way you do things you are creating that know like trust and using what you're doing anyway, as content. And it, to me is the best kind of efficiency that there is. You're already doing it. You may as well, document it and use it as content. Like, why not? It's double, it plays double duty. So some examples of ways you can do this is. Creating Instagram stories. After you get off a sales call, a potential client talking about the specific questions that they asked and how you answer them. You could do it after you get off a coaching call from a program that you're trying to sell. So let's say, if I'm like, I want to talk about my CEO, my mastermind I'll be like here are the things you're talking about on this call, right? These are the kinds of conversations we're having. Describe how it went, what it was like, what you went over, the things that you taught, that the questions your clients had. Cause then you will attract people with those kinds of questions. We want to have those kinds of conversations. Sharing screenshots of client wins from that program or from that offer. Your client sends you like a raving email about, after you created a website for them screenshot it and be like, oh my gosh, I love working with clients like this here. You want to see a before and after of this client, of this client's website and showing that right. And as you're working on things behind the scenes for your program, right? So even just checking your slack or Facebook group, making a new video, fixing your onboarding share. The behind the scenes of exactly what your process is and have a call to action to apply, join whatever. In other really good example. And I recommended this to a client of mine and she was talking about selling one of her offers. That was a little more. A little more step-by-step like I wanted her to really be able to show the behind the scenes of what it would look like to work with her inside of that particular offer. It's a one-off. Intensive type offer. But I was like, what about, what if you show the process? What if you show the like exactly what it's like at, when you onboard. Here's how we do this. This is what we do on the actual day. Here's the process. And showing those, those little bits of B roll from behind the scenes of her doing the things, and you can almost create, you can create almost like a little catalog, real, so to speak of here's exactly what to expect when you book an intensive with me, here's exactly what to expect when you book a closet, edit with me. And that way you can not only use it just to get some, just to get some more eyes on your offer, but you can use. Use it like you can share every time we talk about your offer on Instagram stories, or even in an email. You can say, Hey, do you want to see exactly what it looks like to work with me inside of my closet? Edit. Do you wanna see exactly what it looks like to work with me inside of my VIP day? Watch this real. I walk you through every step and you can. Picture yourself. During all these things, and really just show all the little touches and all, And get people to the place where they are really picturing themselves in that real right. You're in that short form video that YouTube short, that Tik, TOK, whatever it is, I don't care. It doesn't even need to be, it could be a YouTube video, it could even be a podcast. But I think I find that the visuals really keep that like making people really feel like they can picture themselves inside of it. So highly recommend creating, um, some sort of content or, ideally little short form videos, really walking people through the process of working with you or exactly what it looks like, a day in the life of this. Come join me on a VIP day with my client. Here's exactly what we do right beforehand. I do this right. And this is how I prep afterwards. I do that. Like it's very It's very tangible. It makes them really be able to picture exactly what would happen. Were they to then join your, your offer or buy your offer? Okay. The next thing is mixing nostalgia with modern twists, right? Blending, the old, the new and play on a soldier of your audience. So again, back to the music, right? Brewerton combined that nostalgia of those period dramas with these more modern elements like that contemporary music that they turned into classical music. What can you do? I want you to think about how you can mix nostalgia with modern twist in your own marketing to appeal to your target audience. As an example, I work with a lot of millennial moms. All right. So I will very often use millennial references. In my content in my email, in my gifts. So I've used Backstreet boys and then sync gifts. I've used Harry Potter references. Right? These are the kinds of things that connect me with my audience because I'm like, oh my gosh, yes. Like I'm going to bring you back. Or Like simple plan. I, I'll be like, I'm just a kid from simple plan or whatever, the kind of things that we remember and make us feel like, oh my God. Yeah. I remember that. I remember when I used to listen to that, remember when I used to watch that oh, those were the days. And creating that way of connection with my audience.'cause that really just brings us together. It's like the things that we are mutually nostalgic about that really bring us back to our childhood to a simpler time. And that also helps them see like my vibe. Just be like, oh, she liked. She liked Borden's me too. Oh, she loves Harry Potter. Me too. What, whatever it is, doesn't matter really what it is, but thinking about what your audience might find nostalgic and using that. As trending quality, audios and your reels are using it as gifts on your sales pages, your, in your emails and things like that can really help you. Like I have literally had people. Email me back. After sending out like a welcome email to a program or whatever. And I use like a funny, like incent GIF or something like that. Oh, my God, that brings me back, like so much, like I'm cracking up or I love that you love and sinker. I love you love battery boys. Cause I'm so did I, whatever it is. So that really helps. People also not just break up your your usual content, but it also helps people just really laugh. And, insight and connect back with you. And the last thing is, leave him wanting more. Okay. Teasers, cliffhangers. Okay. First of all ending epi. They every episode of every TV show generally enter the cliffhanger. Okay. It's going to make it like that. They very rarely will wrap things up in a tidy bow. Because they want you to keep watching. They want you to keep watching. But especially these, this insane, and Netflix is doing this. I'm not a fan, frankly. I'm really annoyed at them. I'm like, why can't you just drop the whole freaking season in one, go. But this insane two part season is driving everyone crazy, but I promise you, people are going to be. Like on that second half of season three, like white on rice, they are like, they are just jumping on it immediately because. Oh, my God, like what happened? Think about how the fourth episode ended. And I'm not going to tell you how the fourth episode ended, because I don't want to ruin it for you. Ruin it for you. If you haven't watched it yet. But for those of people, Those of you who did watch it. And you are like, oh my God, what the heck? I need to know what's going to happen next. I need to see what's happening next. Now I know it's going to happen. Next. I read the book. But I don't know how they're going to change it in the show, to be honest. And maybe I don't really know what's happening next. And I just like to see it. When you're, in your marketing. In your content using teasers and hints about what's coming next to keep your audience intrigued and coming back for more. And again whatever it is refreshing, I've literally had people where I was refreshing my Instagram. I was refreshing my email to see when they were going to drop the email with the offer because they teased it. So freaking well. And we talked about teasing before, but I just wanted to bring this up again because the idea of the cliffhangers. It just really, I was just, I was just beyond, I was like beside myself, I was like, seriously, this is what you going to do to us. So I'm trying to, I'm trying to figure out if I can hold off on watching second part of season two until I. I'm in labor or something to distract me. I actually doubt it, but I guess we'll see. There's so many things. There's only things that you can learn. You can learn from. The way other industries do things as well. And I think it's a really important thing as well. I think that as business owners, we should not just look at other business owners exactly. Like us to see what they're doing, but we should be looking at how other industries are doing things. How other industries. Are selling things. How other industries. Are creating. Creating hype. Teasing. Capitalizing on a soldier, all those things. That is where we get. Creative ideas from. That is where we get creative ideas from. Like I can, there's so many memes. There are, there's so many names that could create out of just bridge written stills like that. I'll put it that way. Okay. Like you get so many ideas and that is what makes you create it. That's what makes you stand out in your industry. That's what's gonna make you different, right? When you take stuff that is not necessarily the things that everyone like you is doing or take, but taking things from outside of the online space, outside of the online business space and really really. Capitalizing on those and and really just using it to stand out as someone new and different and fresh. In your space. So again, Going back to everything, teaming up with big names, right? Other people's audiences getting social on social media. Teasing cliffhangers. Capitalizing on things that people are already interested in, interest jacking or newsjacking keeping the momentum going in between. Lunches or in between big promotional periods playing on nostalgia and connecting it to modern twists. And of course the teasing, the cliffhanger is leaving, wanting more every time. All this. And there's so many, probably so many other things that you can learn from. Bridgeton, but I wanted to make this short and punchy. What exactly you were going to do, how you're going to leverage one of these ideas from Richardson. And apply it to your own business. I want you to take the ideas and use them. Okay. Don't just listen to this podcast and be like, oh, that was so smart. And then walk away and not do anything with it. Do something with it. Okay.
