Do you know why most planning methods fail mom entrepreneurs because they don't account for the chaos. Of real life with kids. Welcome to day one. Of the eight days to light up your year. The only yearly planning method that actually works for moms. I am so excited to kick this off. Let's go. I like to say I consider each of my children, if you want to go scientific, each of my children are a variable, right. So there's me. I'm one variable. Then there's my husband is the second variable and then I have six children. Each of whom are their own variable. And. Obviously the more variables you have in an equation, the more. They're able the equation can get meaning that every child introduces new potential. Side quests, so to speak when it comes to your life, right? Like the more children you have, the more, the higher, the odds are that one of them will be sick at any given moment. Especially during the winter. And The reason why I want to talk about this is because I find there's a little bit of an issue with traditional planning. And here is what I mean. I just ran my CEO, moms planning party. And when I plan my year, I have two different kind of documents. One is my spreadsheet, my overall master business spreadsheet, where I plan my big picture revenue goals. I. I go through, like my, I put in my, my my calculations for the money that I want to make that year. How much of every offer I want to sell actually. And I do a higher level version of my goals. I'll look at the month to month and okay, this is what's happening this month. Basic ideas, like for example, in April, there's Passover. I don't do any promotions during April. The summer generally in August, my kids are home from school. I don't do that. I don't do any heavy promotion in August. July has to be a little bit of a slower month. Maybe I can create some sort of exciting momentum based, low ticket thing to, to get moms. Tune in. Stay connected to their business while while they're still, running around with their kids and doing summer camp or doing things like I'm going to have a big picture idea of what I want the year to look like overall. And then I have a Google doc where I really break it down in much more detail. For example, which low ticket offer am I going to be running to? What is the backend of that low ticket offer? Right. Which, which higher level which signature offer am I going to be? Am I going to be promoting? Are there any specific launch launch. Events or any sort of behind the scenes. Funnel bills or anything like that. That's where it break it down in much more detail now. The problem with traditional planning. What I find is that most plans are too rigid. Okay. They do not account for sick kids. They don't account for school holidays. They don't account for lower energy times. Especially as women, when we have we have monthly cycles or, Maybe pregnancy or postpartum or nursing or menopause or perimenopause or whatever. We we are not. We are cyclical people, right? We are cyclical humans. And our lives are cyclical as well. And. Even within those cycles. There are so many variables of things that could happen to speak, throw us off. And that inevitably creates guilt when we can not stick to our plan, we're like, what's wrong with me? Why can I just stick to something? Why can't I keep to my own commitment, et cetera, et cetera. And that. Does not serve you. Okay. I've done that guilt. As an Enneagram three, I'm an overachiever. I like to make. Complicated big plans. And then I inevitably will not be able to do all of them. And then I just feel guilty and I feel like I failed. And like, why can't I just do something? I just stick with something for once in my life. And it just it's just very. It's not very productive. We'll put it that way. And I do to be productive. What I like to think about as well is, and I actually did a real about this a little while ago. Was that number one? I like to assume that things are not going to go as planned. So in terms of like, when I'm making like a launch plan or making some sort of thing, Inevitably at some point during my launch. Something is going to happen. That throws me off. Maybe my child will get sick. Maybe I won't get pregnant. I don't know. Maybe there will be a war that breaks out. I hope not. I hope not, but these kinds of things have happened to me. And it sounds so crazy when I say it like that, but. When it comes down to it, we have to plan with reality in mind. We cannot plan. Just assuming that everything's going to go exactly. As we planned it in little Google doc. What is the solution to this? How can we actually solve this traditional planning issue? And my solution is creating a flexible foundation. Hey there, quick break to share something special happening right now. If you're loving this episode, I've got amazing news. Starting December 26, I'm doing something I've never done before, dropping eight days of special podcast episodes all about building a sustainable, profitable business that actually works through life as a mom and building more longevity into everything you do in your business so that one action you take. Can create long term results over and over again. And to celebrate Hanukkah, I'm turning it into a huge giveaway and event. And everyone who enters gets access to my behind the scenes vault of templates, frameworks, and systems to go along with these special podcast episodes. Head to the link below to enter it's yaelbendahan. com slash eight days. I cannot wait to share these eight days with you as we build something that truly lasts. Now, back to the episode. how do we do this flexible foundation method? So the first thing I want to do. When I'm planning out my year is setting yearly vision points and not like rigid goals. Number one is I would like to know how many, let's say how many people I want to bring into my mastermind throughout the year, but it's not going to be like, oh, I must have X amount of people in by. June right. Or I must have I must bring X amount of people in per month because not every month is the same. I'm not going to do that. And we're not everyone does the same again, like I said, September October-ish is usually around my high holidays. And April is usually your own Passover and then there's a summer. And this past year I had a baby in June, every month is not going to be the same. We have to ex expect that. Okay. So that was the first thing is creating these yearly vision points and then being like, I am, this is, these are the action steps I'm going to take right setting. And I've spoken about this before setting action goals, rather than just number goals, because just number goals are not going to serve you. When you. When you can't really control, how many people buy your thing, how do people sign up for your offer? All you can do is control the actions you're going to take in order to get as close to those goals as possible. And that's what I like to get my clients to do. And so that is the first thing is setting those vision points, sorry, vision points, not rigid goals. The second thing is a planning three to six months in detail at most. And obviously depending on how variable your life is how much you tell you're going to go into per month. But. I pretty much like now I look at my year, I've planned in pretty decent detail the first half of the year. And I'm going to revisit my planning. See how the first half of the year went and then re realign my second half of the year plans with that. Okay. Are you doing? What are you doing? You're so cute. If you hear, maybe be in the background, he I'm going to be fixing this audio, but he's in a very cute mood. He's just rolling around next to me. And he prefers that I hold him. But but that's not going to be great for development. So I'm trying to get him to roll around and actually move his body. So I have to plan three to six months in, in detail. And then I will go back, look at, how far I've come, what I've actually achieved, what I have yet to achieve. And then I will revisit those goals. And I will rejig re maybe I'll change some goals. Maybe I'll be ahead of. I'll be ahead of my goals and I'll be like, you know what? I don't need to do this extra promotion that month because cause I already hit my, my, my member goal for this particular offer. So that was the first thing. So don't try to plan 12 months in detail because inevitably things are going to change throughout a year. Think about how many changes things. How do you change? How many things have changed in 2024? Oh my gosh. Going into 2024. Could we have predicted what this year would be like. I really don't think so. I really don't think so. Both in your personal life and just in the world in general. I just encourage you to go a little more overall yearly vision. But when you're going into the detailed planning, do this about three to six months at most. In more detail because things will inevitably shift for you. The other thing you want to do is have things that are always available to sell. CHIME Quick interjection here is that today's code word is eternal. Okay. Eternal. And make sure to save this in a notes app or some sort of document. So you can collect all the code words and submit them in the form at the end of the week. So let's keep going and remember, today's code word is eternal. CHIME And this is part of the longevity thing, right? If you have offers that are always on sale. So a couple of offers that aren't evergreen, that people could jump into whenever. That makes it really easy. To, if you don't have a specific promotion planned, Then you just brainstorm angles to sell that, your signature offer during slower, lean back seasons and just talk about it. And I really do believe that your content really is back to your offers, but it's hard to have your content lead back to your offers if everything is cohort based. I would like you to have your signature program and that could be cohort-based or not. It's really up to you, but I would love to, for you to have at least one evergreen offer that you are always selling, or at least getting people onto a wait list for, and one lower ticket, no brainer taster offer that you can offer people. And that's where you drive things like things like reels. Or carousels. I don't recommend. Oh, using your carousels necessarily like focus on selling your higher ticket spaces or your Instagram posts in general, on higher ticket spaces. I recommend using them to send it to lower mid ticket offers. And and then having backend sales, we're going to talk about that in the upcoming days. I recommend having that as your fun to end and that way. You can and that way you can really like, just at any point, just be like, okay, let's create a piece of content around why people need this, or a scrape as a content around my feet. My, my philosophy on this. And move people towards your lower ticket offers or your signature programs. Another thing that I like to do as best as I can. And this does not always happen is create content and assets ahead of time. I like to if I can create things at least two weeks in advance. Again, this does not always happen. But two weeks I find gives me enough time to pivot in minimal ways when needed without dropping the ball on the stuff that we're really important that really needed to get done, like launch emails or things like that. Building in those buffer weeks really makes a difference when it comes to. I'm actually implementing the plans that you set in place. So I'm going to be giving you a quick little in your implementation guide. You can have Mike, my 30 minute quarterly planning. Method. And I am going to, I'm going to give you the questions that I asked myself. Every quarter. And basically it's a, it's very simple, right? It's looking at what was working well, what didn't work, why didn't it work? What's my level of confidence when it comes to these. Various things in my life, my business, my, my relationship, my health. All that kind of stuff. Oh, you're so funny. What are you doing? Why are you flipping over? It's amazing how he's not even crawling yet, but he manages to move around. Just from rolling. Um, looking at your vision. I'm writing down your non-negotiable priorities, looking at any commitments that you have mark off your non-working weeks and choosing the offers, you're going to focus on and map out, mapping out your promotional schedule, and I'm going to go into more depth in the implementation guide. But. I highly recommend. Again, setting these overall larger vision for your year, rather than very specific, granular, every single bit. And only planning three to six months in advance because I really do believe that life can change so quickly. So fast. And I just want you to be able to. Implement the things that you planned overall, not, maybe not in every single little bit that you thought you might get done, but overall, I want you to keep to your own commitments. And it's very hard to do that. When you make commitments as though you have no children as though you have no as though you have no outside commitments other than your business, because obviously we do right. So if you want support, mapping out your business model and a mom friendly way. You are going to love my momentum, Q1 mini minded. This is exactly what we're going to be doing.
